He was also known as Mervyn Touchet.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Audley of Hely [E., 1633] on 11 October 1684.2 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Castlehaven, co. Cork [I., 1616] on 11 October 1684.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Audley of Orier, co. Armagh [I., 1616] on 11 October 1684.2 He succeeded as the 14th Baron Audley, of Heleigh [E., 1313] on 11 October 1684.2

John Butler, 6th Earl of Ormonde 
He fought in the Hundred Years War in 1449, in France, where he was briefly captured by the French.1 He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Ormonde [I., 1328] on 1 May 1461.1 In February 1470/71 his English attainder was reversed.1

Lady Elizabeth Wilmot was born in 1674. She was the daughter of John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester and Elizabeth Malet. She married Edward Montagu, 3rd Earl of Sandwich, son of Edward Montagu, 2nd Earl of Sandwich and Lady Anne Boyle, on 8 July 1689.2 She died on 27 July 1757.2
From 8 July 1689, her married name became Montagu. After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Wilmot was styled as Countess of Sandwich on 8 July 1689.

John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester was born on 10 April 1647 at Ditchley, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He was the son of Henry Wilmot, 1st Earl of Rochester and Anne St. John.3,4 He married Elizabeth Malet, daughter of John Malet and Unton Hawley, on 29 January 1666/67.2 He died in 1680.
He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Wilmot of Athlone [I., 1621] on 19 February 1657/58. He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Rochester [E., 1652] on 19 February 1657/58. He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Wilmot, of Adderbury in the County of Oxford [E., 1643] on 19 February 1657/58.

Charles Wilmot, 3rd Earl of Rochester was born in 1670.1 He was the son of John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester. He died in 1681, unmarried.
He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Wilmot of Athlone [I., 1621] in 1680. He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Rochester [E., 1652] in 1680. He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Wilmot, of Adderbury in the County of Oxford [E., 1643] in 1680. On his death his titles became extinct.

John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich was born on 13 November 1718.2 He was the son of Edward Richard Montagu, Viscount Hinchinbroke and Elizabeth Popham.3 He married Dorothy Fane, daughter of Charles Fane, 1st Viscount Fane and Mary Stanhope, on 3 March 1740/41.3 He died on 30 April 1792 at age 73.3
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.3 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Sandwich, co. Kent [E., 1660] on 20 October 1729.4 He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Hinchingbrooke, co. Huntingdon [E., 1660] on 20 October 1729.4 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Montagu of St. Neots, co. Huntingdon [E., 1660] on 20 October 1729.4 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.3 He held the office of a Lord of Admiralty between 1744 and 1746.3 He was Minister Plenipoteniary to Breda Conferences in 1748.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in February 1748/49.3 He held the office of First Lord of Admiralty from February 1748/49 to 1751.3 He held the office of Secretary of State, Northern Department between 1763 and 1765.3 He held the office of First Lord of Admiralty between April 1763 and August 1763.3 He held the office of Joint Postmaster-General between 1768 and 1770.3 He held the office of Secretary of State, Northern Department from 1770 to 1771.3 He held the office of First Lord of Admiralty between 1771 and 1782.3 He gained the rank of General in 1772.3 Both the Sandwich Islands and the bread-snack were named after him.3
