James Butler, 2nd Earl of Ormonde 
James Butler, 2nd Earl of Ormonde also went by the nick-name of ‘The Noble Earl’ on account of being the great-grandson of King Edward I.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Ormonde [I., 1328] on 6 January 1337.1 He held the office of Constable of Dublin Castle in March 1349/50.1 He held the office of Justiciar [Ireland] in 1359.1 He held the office of Justiciar [Ireland] in 1364.1 He held the office of Justiciar [Ireland] in 1376.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.3
