Robert Dudley, Earl of Warwick1 

Robert Dudley, Earl of Warwick was born illegitimately on 7 August 1574 at Richmond Palace, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester and Hon. Douglas Howard.1 He married, secondly, Alice Leigh, Duchess Dudley, daughter of Sir Thomas Leigh, 1st Bt. and Katherine Spencer, on 11 September 1596.2,3 He married, thirdly, Elizabeth Southwell, daughter of Sir Robert Southwell, before 27 January 1606/7 in a bigamous marriage.2 He died on 6 September 1649 at age 75 at Florence, ItalyG.1 He died on 6 September 1649 at age 75.2
He was styled as Earl of Warwick.1 He failed to establish his legitimacy in England and settled in Tuscany.2 On 9 March 1620 the Emperor Ferdiannd II purportly recognised his claim to the title ‘Duke of Northumberland.2‘ He was a doctor, engineer, gun-dog trainer, mathematician, naval architect and navigator.2
