     John Montagu, 5th Earl of Sandwich was born on 26 January 1743/44.¹ He was the son of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich and Dorothy Fane.² He married, firstly, Lady Elizabeth Montagu, daughter of George Montague-Dunk, 2nd Earl of Halifax and Anne Richards, on 1 March 1766.³ He married, secondly, Lady Mary Henrietta Powlett, daughter of Admiral Harry Powlett, 6th Duke of Bolton and Mary Nunn, on 25 April 1772.² He died on 6 June 1814 at age 70.²
     He was styled as Viscount Hinchingbrooke between 1744 and 1792. He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.² He gained the rank of Captain in 1761 in the 3rd Foot Guards.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Huntingdonshire between 1768 and 1792.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1771.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Brackley between 1783 and 1806.² He was Master of Buckhounds between 1783 and 1806.² He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Sandwich, co. Kent [E., 1660] on 30 April 1792.³ He succeeded as the 5th Baron Montagu of St. Neots, co. Huntingdon [E., 1660] on 30 April 1792.³ He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Hinchingbrooke, co. Huntingdon [E., 1660] on 30 April 1792.³

     Lord Henry Paulet was the son of William Paulet, 4th Marquess of Winchester and Lady Lucy Cecil.² He married Lucy Philpot, daughter of Sir George Philpot.¹ He died in 1672.¹
     He lived at Amport, Hampshire, England^G.¹

     Lucy Philpot is the daughter of Sir George Philpot.¹ She married Lord Henry Paulet, son of William Paulet, 4th Marquess of Winchester and Lady Lucy Cecil.¹
     Her married name became Paulet.¹

     Sir George Philpot lived at Thruxton, Hampshire, England^G.¹

     Francis Paulet was born circa 1645.¹ He was the son of Lord Henry Paulet and Lucy Philpot.¹ He married Elizabeth Norton, daughter of Sir Richard Norton, 1st and last Bt. and Mabell Becher, on 20 May 1674.¹ He died on 25 February 1695/96.
     He lived at Amport, Hampshire, England^G.¹

     Elizabeth Norton was the daughter of Sir Richard Norton, 1st and last Bt. and Mabell Becher.¹ She married Francis Paulet, son of Lord Henry Paulet and Lucy Philpot, on 20 May 1674.¹
     Her married name became Paulet.

     John Manning married Jennifer Mary Williams, daughter of Hugh Richard Grenville Williams and Jaqueline Ferney Davidson.¹

     Norton Paulet was born circa 1679.¹ He was the son of Francis Paulet and Elizabeth Norton.¹ He married Jane Morley, daughter of Sir Charles Morley and Hon. Magdalen Herbert.¹ He died on 6 June 1741.¹
     He lived at Amport, Hampshire, England^G.¹

     Jane Morley is the daughter of Sir Charles Morley and Hon. Magdalen Herbert.^1,2 She married Norton Paulet, son of Francis Paulet and Elizabeth Norton.¹
     Her married name became Paulet.

     Sir Charles Morley married Hon. Magdalen Herbert, daughter of Richard Herbert, 2nd Baron Herbert of Chirbury and Lady Mary Egerton.¹
     He lived at Drroxford, Hampshire, England.¹
