Sir Kingsley William Amis was born on 16 April 1922 at Clapham, London, EnglandG.1 He was the son of William Robert Amis and Rosa Annie Lucas.3 He married, firstly, Hilary Ann Bardwell, daughter of Leonard Sidney Bardwell, in January 1948.1 He and Hilary Ann Bardwell were divorced in 1965.2 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Jane Howard, daughter of David Howard and Katharine Somervell, in 1965.4 He and Elizabeth Jane Howard were divorced in 1983.4 He died on 22 October 1995 at age 73 at St. Pancras Hospital, London, EnglandG.1
He was a novelist.4 He wrote the book Lucky Jim, published 1954.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1990.2
