Sir Charles Edward Trevelyan, 1st Bt. was born on 2 April 1807.3 He was the son of Venerable George Trevelyan and Harriet Neave.3 He married Hannah More Macaulay, daughter of Zachary Macaulay and Selina Anne Mills, on 23 December 1834.3 He married, secondly, Eleanora Ann Campbell, daughter of Walter Campbell and Mary Ann King, on 14 October 1875.4 He died on 19 June 1886 at age 79.3
He was Assistant Secretary, Treasury between 1840 and 1859.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1848.3 He held the office of Governor of Madras between 1850 and 1860.3 He was finance member of the Governor-General of India’s Council between 1862 and 1865.3 He was created 1st Baronet Trevelyan, of Wallington, Northumberland [U.K.] on 13 March 1874.3
