He was educated at Glasgow University, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.2 He held the position of 16th Chief of the Clan Macleod from.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) between 1635 and 1641.2

Sir Donald Macdonald, 11th of Sleat, 4th Bt.1 
Sir Donald Macdonald, 11th of Sleat, 4th Bt. also went by the nick-name of ‘Sir Donald of the Wars’.2 He gained the rank of Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689 in the where he lead his father’s clan.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Macdonald, of Sleat, in the Isle of Skye, co. Inverness [N.S., 1625] on 5 February 1695.1 In 1715 he was involved in the Uprising. Although he is said to have been attainted, no forfeiture of his title appears to have followed.1 He lived at Duntulm, Isle of Skye, ScotlandG.1
