Sir John Crawfurd of Kilbirnie, 1st Bt.1,2 
He was created 1st Baronet Crawfurd, of Kilbirnie, co. Ayr [Nova Scotia] on 14 May 1628, although this creation is not recorded in the Great Seal.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ayrshire [Scotland] in 1644.5 He was commander of the royalist Regiment of Foot.3 He lived at Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.5 His last will was dated 31 July 1662 he settled his estate on his daughter, Margaret.5 On his death his baronetcy became dormant until assumed in 1765 by a distant cousin.5

He was given the name of John Crawford at birth.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ayrshire between 1693 and 1703.1 He succeeded as the 1st Lord Kilbirny, Kingsburn and Drumry [Scotland] on 10 April 1703.1 He was created 1st Viscount of Mount Crawford [Scotland] on 10 April 1703.1 He was created 1st Lord Kilbirny and Drumry [Scotland] on 26 November 1703, as a replacemnt of the April title.1 He was created 1st Viscount Garnock [Scotland] on 26 November 1703, as a replacemnt of the April title.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1
