Charles Theophilus Metcalfe, 1st Baron Metcalfe1 
Charles Theophilus Metcalfe, 1st Baron Metcalfe was born on 30 January 1785.3 He was the son of Sir Thomas Metcalfe, 1st Bt. and Susannah Selina Sophia Debonnaire.1 He died on 5 September 1846 at age 61, without issue.3
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.4 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Metcalfe, of Chilton, co. Berks [U.K., 1802] on 15 August 1822.5 He held the office of Member of the Supreme Council [BEngal].5 He held the office of Governor of Agra.5 He held the office of Governor of Jamaica between 1839 and 1842.3 He was Chancellor of King’s College, Toronto between 1843 and 1845.4 He held the office of Governor-General of Canada between 1843 and 1845.3 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)5 He held the office of Resident of Hyderabad.5 He was created 1st Baron Metcalfe [U.K.] in January 1845.5 On his death his barony became extinct.5
