Brigadier Alan Henry Campbell Swinton, 6th of Kimmerghame1 
He was educated at University College School, Hampstead, London, England.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches and was severely wounded.2 He gained the rank of officer in the Scots Guards.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1915.2 He was commander of the 1st Battalion, Scots Guards between 1933 and 1937.2 He purchased Kimmerghame in 1938 from Margaret Anne Cecil Campbell Swinton, 5th of Kimmerghame.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He held the office of Sheriff Substitute for Berwickshire in 1954.2 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries, Scotland (F.S.A.Scot.)2 He was admitted to Royal Company of Archers.2
