     He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 20 February 1797.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)      George Spencer-Churchill, 6th Duke of Marlborough was born on 27 December 1793 at Bill Hill, Wokingham, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He was the son of George Spencer-Churchill, 5th Duke of Marlborough and Lady Susan Stewart.¹ He married, firstly, Lady Jane Stewart, daughter of Admiral George Stewart, 8th Earl of Galloway and Lady Jane Paget, on 13 January 1819 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.¹ He married, secondly, Hon. Charlotte Augusta Flower, daughter of Henry Jeffery Flower, 4th Viscount Ashbrook and Emily Theophila Metcalfe, on 10 June 1846 at Chapel, Lambeth Palace, Lambeth, London, England^G.³ He married, thirdly, Jane Francis Clinton Stewart, daughter of Hon. Edward Richard Stewart and Lady Katherine Charteris, on 18 October 1851 at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England^G.^3,4 He died on 1 July 1857 at age 63 at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ His will was proven (by probate) in September 1857, at under £200,000.³

     Cockayne writes, “The case of the Queen v. Gregory, tried before Lord Denman in Nov. 1838, disclosed circumstances gravely reflecting on his moral character, such as the seduction of a young woman in a respectable position by means of a mock marriage, performed, it is stated, in 1817 by one of his brothers in the guise of a clergyman.”³ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.⁵
     

     Lady Jane Stewart was born on 29 March 1798.¹ She was the daughter of Admiral George Stewart, 8th Earl of Galloway and Lady Jane Paget.¹ She married George Spencer-Churchill, 6th Duke of Marlborough, son of George Spencer-Churchill, 5th Duke of Marlborough and Lady Susan Stewart, on 13 January 1819 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.¹ She died on 12 October 1844 at age 46 at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ Her will was proven (by probate), at £22,167.
     From 13 January 1819, her married name became Spencer-Churchill. After her marriage, Lady Jane Stewart was styled as Marchioness of Blandford on 13 January 1819. After her marriage, Lady Jane Stewart was styled as Duchess of Marlborough on 5 March 1840.

     Admiral George Stewart, 8th Earl of Galloway was born on 24 March 1768.² He was the son of John Stewart, 7th Earl of Galloway and Anne Dashwood. He married Lady Jane Paget, daughter of Henry Paget, 1st Earl of Uxbridge and Jane Champagné, on 18 April 1797.³ He died on 27 March 1834 at age 66.²
     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Stewart, of Burray [N.S., 1687] on 13 November 1806.⁴ He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Galloway [S., 1623] on 13 November 1806.⁴ He succeeded as the 8th Lord of Garlies [S., 1607] on 13 November 1806.⁴ He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Stewart, of Corsewell [N.S., 1627] on 13 November 1806.⁴ He gained the rank of Admiral of the Blue in the Royal Navy. He was appointed Knight, Order of the Thistle (K.T.) in 1814.²

     Lady Jane Paget was born circa 1777. She was the daughter of Henry Paget, 1st Earl of Uxbridge and Jane Champagné.^2,1 She married Admiral George Stewart, 8th Earl of Galloway, son of John Stewart, 7th Earl of Galloway and Anne Dashwood, on 18 April 1797.² She died on 30 June 1842.²
     From 18 April 1797, her married name became Stewart.

     Henry Paget, 1st Earl of Uxbridge was born on 18 June 1744.³ He was the son of Sir Nicholas Bayly, 2nd Bt. and Caroline Paget.³ He was baptised on 16 July 1744 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.³ He married Jane Champagné, daughter of Very Rev. Arthur Champagné and Marianne Hamon, on 11 April 1767.³ He died on 13 March 1812 at age 67.⁴ His will was proven (by probate) on 13 May 1812.⁵
     He was given the name of Henry Bayly at birth.³ He succeeded as the 9th Lord Paget, of Beaudesert [E., 1549] on 16 November 1769.³ On 29 January 1770 his name was legally changed to Henry Paget by Royal Licence.³ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Laws (D.C.L.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 7 July 1773.³ He was Colonel of the Staffordshire Regiment of Militia in 1778.³ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Anglesey in 1782.³ He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Bayly, of Placenewyd, co. Anglesey and Mount Bagenall, co. Louth [I., 1730] on 9 December 1782.⁶ He was created 1st Earl of Uxbridge, co. Middlesex [Great Britain] on 19 May 1784.³ He held the office of Ranger of the Forest of Snowdon in 1785.³ He held the office of Steward of Bardney in 1785.³ He held the office of Constable of Carnarvon Castle in 1785.³ He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.) on 14 April 1785.³ He held the office of Vice-Admiral of North Wales in 1790.³ He held the office of Vice-Admiral of Pembrokeshire and Carmarthen in 1790. He gained the rank of Colonel in 1794.³ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire in 1801.³ His last will was dated 14 July 1805.

     Hon. Charlotte Augusta Flower was born on 25 November 1818.¹ She was the daughter of Henry Jeffery Flower, 4th Viscount Ashbrook and Emily Theophila Metcalfe.¹ She married George Spencer-Churchill, 6th Duke of Marlborough, son of George Spencer-Churchill, 5th Duke of Marlborough and Lady Susan Stewart, on 10 June 1846 at Chapel, Lambeth Palace, Lambeth, London, England^G.¹ She died on 20 April 1850 at age 31 at Mivart’s Hotel, St. George Street, Mayfair, London, England^G.¹ She was buried at Chapel, Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹
     After her marriage, Hon. Charlotte Augusta Flower was styled as Duchess of Marlborough on 10 June 1846. From 10 June 1846, her married name became Spencer-Churchill.

     Henry Jeffery Flower, 4th Viscount Ashbrook was born on 6 November 1776.² He was the son of William Flower, 2nd Viscount Ashbrook and Elizabeth Ridge.² He married, firstly, Deborah Susannah Freind, daughter of Reverend William Maximilian Freind and Deborah Walker, on 26 May 1802 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G, with a fortune of £30,000.² He married, secondly, Emily Theophila Metcalfe, daughter of Sir Thomas Metcalfe, 1st Bt. and Susannah Selina Sophia Debonnaire, on 22 June 1812 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.² He died on 4 May 1847 at age 70 at Beaumont Lodge, Old Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.³ His will was proven (by probate) in June 1847.³
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 58th Foot.² He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Ashbrook [I., 1751] on 6 January 1802.² He succeeded as the 5th Baron Castle-Durrow, co. Kilkenny [I., 1733] on 6 January 1802. On 25 August 1831 his claim to the peerage was allowed.² He held the office of Lord of the Bedchamber between 1832 and 1837.²

     Emily Theophila Metcalfe was born on 16 June 1790 at Portland Place, Marylebone, London, England^G.² She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Metcalfe, 1st Bt. and Susannah Selina Sophia Debonnaire.^1,2 She married Henry Jeffery Flower, 4th Viscount Ashbrook, son of William Flower, 2nd Viscount Ashbrook and Elizabeth Ridge, on 22 June 1812 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.³ She died on 9 April 1885 at age 94 at 26 Queen’s Place Terrace, London, England^G.² Her will was proven (by probate) on 9 May 1885, at above £73,000.²
     From 22 June 1812, her married name became Flower. After her marriage, Emily Theophila Metcalfe was styled as Viscountess Ashbrook on 22 June 1812.

     Sir Thomas Metcalfe, 1st Bt. was born on 8 January 1745.³ He was the son of Reverend Thomas Metcalfe and Margaret Williams.⁴ He married Susannah Selina Sophia Debonnaire, daughter of John Debonnaire and Jane Jones, on 18 April 1782 at India.⁴ He died on 17 November 1813 at age 68.³
     He gained the rank of Major in the Bengal Army.⁴ He was Director of the East India Company between 1789 and 1812.⁴ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Abingdon between 1796 and 1807.^4,3 He was created 1st Baronet Metcalfe, of Chilton, co. Berks [U.K.] on 21 December 1802.³ He held the office of High Sheriff of Berkshire in 1809.⁴
