George Hay, 7th Marquess of Tweeddale was born in 1753.3 He was the son of John Hay and Dorothy Hayhurst.1 He married Lady Hannah Charlotte Maitland, daughter of James Maitland, 7th Earl of Lauderdale and Mary Turner Lombe, on 18 April 1785.3 He died on 9 August 1804 at Verdun, FranceG.3
He succeeded as the 15th Lord Hay of Yester [S., 1488] on 16 November 1787.3 He succeeded as the 7th Marquess of Tweeddale [S., 1694] on 16 November 1787.3 He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Gifford [S., 1694] on 16 November 1787.3 He succeeded as the 7th Viscount of Walden [S., 1694] on 16 November 1787.3 He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Tweeddale [S., 1646] on 16 November 1787.3 He held the office of Burgess of Edinburgh in 1788.3 He gained the rank of officer in the Honourable East India Company Navy.3 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Haddingtonshire between 1794 and 1804.3 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1796 and 1804.3 He was imprisoned with his wife in the fortress of Verdun by Napoleon.3

Her married name became Hay. After her marriage, Lady Hannah Charlotte Maitland was styled as Marchioness of Tweeddale on 16 November 1787. He was imprisoned with his wife in the fortress of Verdun by Napoleon.4

David Alexander Leslie-Melville, Lord Balgonie was born on 26 January 1954.1 He was the son of Alexander Robert Leslie-Melville, 16th Earl of Leven and Susan Steuart Menzies.1 He married Julia Clare Critchley, daughter of Lt.-Col. Ian Ranald Critchley and Isabel Mary Hamilton, in 1981.1 He died on 14 February 2007 at age 53 at Verbier, SwitzerlandG, killed while skiing.3
He was styled as Lord Balgonie between 1954 and 2007.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Nairn in 1968.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant and Acting Captain in 1975 in the Queen’s Own Highlanders.1 He was director of Wood Conservation Ltd in 1984.1 He was director of Treske Ltd in 1996.1 He lived in 2003 at Glenferness House, Nairnshire, ScotlandG.1
