     James Bruce, 12th Earl of Kincardine was born on 20 July 1811.¹ He was the son of General Thomas Bruce, 11th Earl of Kincardine and Elizabeth Oswald.¹ He married, firstly, Elizabeth Mary Cumming-Bruce, daughter of Charles Lennox Cumming-Bruce of Roseisle and Kinnaird and Mary Elizabeth Bruce, on 22 April 1841.¹ He married, secondly, Lady Mary Louisa Lambton, daughter of John George Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham and Lady Louisa Elizabeth Grey, on 7 November 1846.² He died on 20 November 1863 at age 52 at Dhurmsala, India^G.¹
