Admiral Edward Hawke, 1st Baron Hawke of Towton1 
He was commissioned in 1720, in the service of the Royal Navy.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Portsmouth between 1747 and 1776.2 He gained the rank of Rea-Admiral of the White in July 1747.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1749.1 He gained the rank of Battle of Quiberon Bay on 20 November 1759 in the where he defeated the French.1 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral in 1765.2 He held the office of First Lord of the Admiralty between 1766 and 1771.2 He gained the rank of Admiral in 1768.2 He was created 1st Baron Hawke of Towton, co. York [Great Britain] on 20 May 1776.2

Catherine Brooke was born in 1720.2 She was the daughter of Walter Brooke.3 She married Admiral Edward Hawke, 1st Baron Hawke of Towton, son of Edward Hawke and Elizabeth Bladen, in 1737.1 She died on 28 October 1756.1
From 1737, her married name became Hawke.
