     Sir Robert Steuart of Allanbank, 1st Bt. was born in 1643.² He was the son of Sir James Steuart of Coltness and Anne Hope.² He married, firstly, Jean Gilmour, daughter of Sir John Gilmour of Craigmillar and Margaret Murray.³ He married Helen Cockburn, daughter of Sir Archibald Cockburn of Langton, 4th Bt. and Marion Sinclair, in 1692.³ He died in 1707.²
     He gained the title of 1st Baronet Steuart, of Allanbank.

     Rt. Hon. Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 3rd Bt. was born in 1722.² He was the son of Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 2nd Bt. and Helen Steuart.² He married Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound, daughter of Hugh Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound of Melgund and Kynynmound, on 14 December 1746.² He died on 11 February 1777.²
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Selkirkshire between 1753 and 1765.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1762.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Roxburghshire between 1765 and 1777.² He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Elliot, of Headshaw [N.S., 1700] on 16 April 1766.² He was Treasurer of the Royal Navy between 1770 and 1777.²

     Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound was the daughter of Hugh Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound of Melgund and Kynynmound.¹ She married Rt. Hon. Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 2nd Bt. and Helen Steuart, on 14 December 1746.² She died on 30 December 1778.²
     From 14 December 1746, her married name became Elliot.

     Hugh Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound of Melgund and Kynynmound was the son of Hon. Sir David Dalrymple of Hailes, 1st Bt. and Janet Rochead.² He died in 1741.³
     He lived at Melgund, Angus, Scotland^G.¹ He lived at Kynynmound, Fife, Scotland^G. He was given the name of Hugh Dalrymple at birth.³

     Hon. Sir David Dalrymple of Hailes, 1st Bt. was the son of James Dalrymple, 1st Viscount of Stair and Margaret Ross.³ He married Janet Rochead, daughter of Sir James Rochead of Inverleith, on 4 April 1691.³ He died on 3 December 1721.³
     He was admitted to Advocate on 3 November 1688.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Calross [Scotland] between 1697 and 1707.³ He was created 1st Baronet Dalrymple, of Hailes, co. Haddington [Nova Scotia] on 8 May 1700.^3,4 He was Commissioner for the Union of English and Scottish Parliaments in 1707.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Culross [Scotland] from 1707 to 1707.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Culross from 1707 to 1708.⁴ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haddington between 1708 and 1721.³ He held the office of Queen’s Advocate [Scotland] between 1709 and 1720.³ He held the office of Auditor of the Exchequer from 1720 to 1721.⁵

     Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 1st Earl of Minto was born on 23 April 1751.³ He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 3rd Bt. and Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound.^4,1 He married Anna Maria Amyand, daughter of Sir George Amyand, 1st Bt. and Anna Maria Korteen, on 3 January 1777.³ He died on 21 June 1814 at age 63.³
     He was given the name of Gilbert Elliot at birth.³ He was educated at La Pension Militaire, Fontainebleau, Île-de-France, France^G.³ He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.³ He was admitted to Lincoln’s Inn in 1774 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Morpeth between 1776 and 1777.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Roxburghshire between 1777 and 1784.³ He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Elliot, of Headshaw [N.S., 1700] on 11 February 1777.³ He was Envoy to Vienna between 1779 and 1801.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Berwickshire between 1788 and 1790.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Helston between 1790 and 1795.³ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1793.³ He held the office of Viceroy to Corsica between 1794 and 1796.³ He held the office of Minister to the Italian States between March 1794 and May 1794.³ On 2 October 1797 his name was legally changed to Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound by Royal Licence.³ He was created 1st Baron Minto of Minto, co. Roxburgh [Great Britain] on 20 October 1797.³ He held the office of Governor-General of India between 1806 and 1813.³ He held the office of President of the Board of Control, India between February 1806 and July 1806.³ He was created 1st Viscount Melgund, of Melgund, co. Forfar [U.K.] on 24 February 1813.³ He was created 1st Earl of Minto, co. Roxburgh [U.K.] on 24 February 1813.³

     Anna Maria Amyand was the daughter of Sir George Amyand, 1st Bt. and Anna Maria Korteen.¹ She married Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 1st Earl of Minto, son of Rt. Hon. Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 3rd Bt. and Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound, on 3 January 1777.¹ She died on 8 March 1829.¹
     Her married name became Elliot. After her marriage, Anna Maria Amyand was styled as Baroness Minto of Minto on 20 October 1797. After her marriage, Anna Maria Amyand was styled as Countess of Minto on 24 February 1813.

     Sir George Amyand, 1st Bt. was born on 26 September 1720.¹ He was the son of Dr. Claudius Amyand and Mary Rabache.¹ He was baptised on 15 November 1720 at St. James’s, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ He married Anna Maria Korteen, daughter of John Abraham Korteen, before 1748.¹ He died on 16 August 1766 at age 45.¹ He was buried on 23 August 1766 at Carshalton, Surrey, England^G.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Barnstaple between 1754 and 1766.¹ He was an assistant to the Russia Company in 1756.¹ He was a merchant at London, England^G.¹ He was a director of the East India Company in 1762.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Amyand, of London [Great Britain] on 9 August 1764.¹

     David Murray, 2nd Earl of Mansfield was born on 9 October 1727.¹ He was the son of David Murray, 6th Viscount of Stormont and Anne Stewart.¹ He married, firstly, Henrietta Frederica von Bünau, daughter of Henry Graf von Bünau, on 16 August 1759.¹ He married, secondly, Louisa Cathcart, Countess of Mansfield, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir Charles Schaw Cathcart, 9th Lord Cathcart and Jane Hamilton, on 5 May 1776.^3,4 He died on 1 September 1796 at age 68.³

     Louisa Cathcart, Countess of Mansfield was born circa 1758.² She was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir Charles Schaw Cathcart, 9th Lord Cathcart and Jane Hamilton.³ She married, firstly, David Murray, 2nd Earl of Mansfield, son of David Murray, 6th Viscount of Stormont and Anne Stewart, on 5 May 1776.^3,2 She married, secondly, Hon. Robert Fulke Greville, son of Francis Greville, 1st Earl of Warwick and Elizabeth Hamilton, on 19 October 1797.¹ She died on 11 July 1843.¹
     After her marriage, Louisa Cathcart, Countess of Mansfield was styled as Viscountess of Stormont on 5 May 1776. From 5 May 1776, her married name became Murray. She succeeded as the 2nd Countess of Mansfield, co. Nottingham [G.B., 1776] on 20 March 1793, suo jure.¹ From 19 October 1797, her married name became Greville.
