Kennedy.^3,2 She married Frederick Jan Thesiger, 3rd Viscount Chelmsford, son of Andrew Charles Gerald Thesiger, 2nd Viscount Chelmsford and Gillian Lubbock, on 16 August 1958.¹ She died on 28 December 2010.²
     From 16 August 1958, her married name became Thesiger. After her marriage, Clare Rendle Rolston was styled as Viscountess Chelmsford on 27 September 1970. She lived in 2003 at 26 Ormonde Gate, London, England^G.¹

     William George Spencer Scott Compton, 5th Marquess of Northampton was born on 23 April 1851.¹ He was the son of Admiral William Compton, 4th Marquess of Northampton and Eliza Elliot.¹ He married Hon. Mary Florence Baring, daughter of William Bingham Baring, 2nd Baron Ashburton and Louisa Caroline Mackenzie, on 30 April 1884.⁴ He died on 15 June 1913 at age 62.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for South-West Warwickshire between 1885 and 1886.¹ He was appointed Knight of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.)¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Barnsley between 1889 and 1897.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Marquess of the county of Northampton [U.K., 1812] on 11 September 1897.⁵ He succeeded as the 5th Earl Compton of Compton, co. Warwick [U.K., 1812] on 11 September 1897.⁵ He succeeded as the 13th Earl of Northampton [E., 1618] on 11 September 1897.⁵ He succeeded as the 5th Baron Wilmington, of Wilmington, co. Sussex [U.K., 1812] on 11 September 1897.⁵ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire between 1912 and 1913.¹

     Hon. Mary Florence Baring was born on 26 June 1860. She was the daughter of William Bingham Baring, 2nd Baron Ashburton and Louisa Caroline Mackenzie.¹ She married William George Spencer Scott Compton, 5th Marquess of Northampton, son of Admiral William Compton, 4th Marquess of Northampton and Eliza Elliot, on 30 April 1884.¹ She died on 1 June 1902 at age 41.²
     From 30 April 1884, her married name became Compton. After her marriage, Hon. Mary Florence Baring was styled as Marchioness of Northampton on 11 September 1897.

     Louisa Caroline Mackenzie was born on 5 May 1827.¹ She was the daughter of Rt. Hon. James Alexander Stewart-Mackenzie and Hon. Mary Frederica Elizabeth Mackenzie.¹ She married William Bingham Baring, 2nd Baron Ashburton, son of Alexander Baring, 1st Baron Ashburton and Anne Louise Bingham, on 17 November 1858 at Bath House, Piccadilly, London, England^G.¹ She died on 2 February 1903 at age 75 at Kent House, Knightsbridge, London, England^G.¹ Her will was proven (by probate), at over £285,000 gross and £109,000 net.¹
     From 17 November 1858, her married name became Baring. After her marriage, Louisa Caroline Mackenzie was styled as Baroness Ashburton on 17 November 1858. She inherited the Mackenzie estate of nearly 30,000 acres in Ross-shire.¹

     Charlotte Elizabeth Kelly was born in 1786.² She was the daughter of Rt. Hon. Thomas Kelly and Frances Hickie.^1,2 She married Thomas Cosby, son of Thomas Cosby and Grace Johnstone, on 25 August 1802.³ She died in 1863.³
     From 25 August 1802, her married name became Cosby.

     Admiral William Compton, 4th Marquess of Northampton was born on 20 August 1818.² He was the son of Spencer Joshua Alwyne Compton, 2nd Marquess of Northampton and Margaret Douglas-Maclean-Clephane.² He married Eliza Elliot, daughter of Admiral Hon. Sir George Elliot and Eliza Cecilia Ness, on 21 August 1844.³ He died on 11 September 1897 at age 79.²
     He was commissioned in 1831 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Navy.² He fought in the Chinese War.² He gained the rank of Captain in 1866.² He retired from the military in 1869, with the rank of Rear-Admiral, late of the Royal Navy.² He was awarded the Grand Cross, Order of Charles III of Spain.² He succeeded as the 4th Earl Compton of Compton, co. Warwick [U.K., 1812] on 3 March 1877.³ He succeeded as the 4th Marquess of the county of Northampton [U.K., 1812] on 3 March 1877.³ He succeeded as the 4th Baron Wilmington, of Wilmington, co. Sussex [U.K., 1812] on 3 March 1877.³ He succeeded as the 12th Earl of Northampton [E., 1618] on 3 March 1877.³ He gained the rank of Admiral in 1880.² He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1885.²

     Eliza Elliot was born circa 1820 at Scotland.² She was the daughter of Admiral Hon. Sir George Elliot and Eliza Cecilia Ness.¹ She married Admiral William Compton, 4th Marquess of Northampton, son of Spencer Joshua Alwyne Compton, 2nd Marquess of Northampton and Margaret Douglas-Maclean-Clephane, on 21 August 1844.¹ She died on 4 December 1877 at Florence, Italy.^1,2
     Her married name became Compton. After her marriage, Eliza Elliot was styled as Marchioness of Northampton on 3 March 1877.

     Hersey Susan Sydney Wauchope was baptised on 24 October 1817 at Liberton, Midlothian, Scotland^G.² She was born in 1817 at Lausanne, Switzerland^G.³ She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. William Wauchope of Niddrie and Elizabeth Hersey Baird.¹ She married Admiral Sir George Augustus Elliot, son of Admiral Hon. Sir George Elliot and Eliza Cecilia Ness, on 1 August 1842 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.^1,4 She died on 11 December 1893 at age 76.¹
     Her married name became Elliot.

     Admiral Hon. Sir George Elliot was born on 1 August 1784.¹ He was the son of Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 1st Earl of Minto and Anna Maria Amyand.¹ He married Eliza Cecilia Ness, daughter of James Ness, on 26 May 1810 at Government House, Calcutta, India.^1,2 He died on 24 June 1863 at age 78.¹
     He was General of the Mint [Scotland].¹ He was a Lord of the Admiralty.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)¹
