     Admiral John Elliot was the son of Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 2nd Bt. and Helen Steuart.1 He died in 1809.1
     He gained the rank of Admiral of the Red.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cockermouth between 1766 and 1768.1

     Rt. Hon. Hugh Elliot was born on 6 April 1752.1 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 3rd Bt. and Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound.1 He married, firstly, Charlotte von Kraut, daughter of Friedrich von Kraut, in 1778.1 He and Charlotte von Kraut were divorced in 1783.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Jones after 1783.1 He died on 10 December 1830 at age 78.1
     He held the office of Governor of Madras.1

     Margaret Jones married Rt. Hon. Hugh Elliot, son of Rt. Hon. Sir Gilbert Elliot of Minto, 3rd Bt. and Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound, after 1783.1 She died on 2 March 1819.1
     Her married name became Elliot.1
