Norman MacLeod, 22nd of MacLeod was the son of Norman MacLeod, 20th of MacLeod and Hon. Anne Fraser.3 He married, firstly, Janet Macdonald, daughter of Sir Donald Macdonald, 11th of Sleat, 4th Bt. and Mary Macdonald.3 He married, secondly, Anne Martin, daughter of William Martin of Inchture.3 He died in 1772.3
He held the position of 22nd Chief of the Clan MacLeod from.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Inverness-shire between 1741 and 1754.3 In 1745 he gave valuable support to the government side during the Uprising and raised four independent companies.3 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 12 January 1753.3

Monaghan [U.K., 1838] on 10 August 1842.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Rossmore of Monaghan [I., 1796] on 10 August 1842.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of County Monaghan between 1843 and 1852.1
