     Alexander Gilbert James Cavendish was born on 7 January 1957.¹ He is the son of Lt.-Cdr. Alexander Arbuthnott Cavendish and Katherine Virginia Mary Hooper.¹

     Colonel Sir Abe Bailey, 1st Bt. was born on 6 November 1864.² He was the son of Thomas Bailey and Ann Drummond McEwan.¹ He married, firstly, Caroline Mary Paddon, daughter of John Paddon, on 17 July 1894.² He married, secondly, Hon. Mary Westenra, daughter of Derrick Warner William Westenra, 4th/5th Baron Rossmore of Monaghan and Mittie Naylor, on 5 September 1911.² He died on 10 August 1940 at age 75.²
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Sussex Imperial Yeomanry.² In 1895 he was a member of the Johannesburg Committee during Jameson’s Raid.² He gained the rank of Colonel in 1900.² He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.² He held the office of Member of the Legislative Assembly (M.L.A.) [Cape of Good Hope] between 1902 and 1905.² In 1907 he raised and financed troops to suppress the Zulu Rebellion.² He held the office of Member of the Legislative Assembly (M.L.A.) [Transvaal] between 1907 and 1910.² He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1911.² He gained the rank of Major in the South African Forces.² In 1915 he raised and financed sharpshooters for the Western Front.² He held the office of Member of the Legislative Assembly (M.L.A.) [Union of South Africa] between 1915 and 1924, for Krugersdrop.² He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.² He was created 1st Baronet Bailey, of Cradock, in the Province of the Cape of Good Hope and the Union of South Africa [U.K.] on 12 February 1919.¹ He was admitted to Liveryman of the Framework Knitters’ Company.² He held the office of Lieutenant of the City of London.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Sussex.² He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.³
     

     Henry Durand Hotham, 8th Baron Hotham of South Dalton was born on 3 May 1940.¹ He is the son of Henry Frederick Hotham, 7th Baron Hotham of South Dalton and Lady Letitia Sibell Winifred Cecil.¹ He married Alexandra Stirling-Home-Drummond-Moray, daughter of Major Andrew Charles Stirling-Home-Drummond-Moray and Bridget Norah Robertson, in June 1972.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He was educated at Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Tasmania between 1963 and 1966.¹ He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Grenadier Guards.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Baron Hotham of South Dalton [I., 1797] on 18 November 1967.¹ He succeeded as the 18th Baronet Hotham [E., 1622] on 18 November 1967.¹

     Diana Valerie Frances Cavendish was born on 13 May 1945.¹ She is the daughter of Lt.-Cdr. Alexander Arbuthnott Cavendish and Katherine Virginia Mary Hooper.¹ She married John Cross.¹
     Her married name became Cross.¹ She lived in 1999 at 3270 Kempton Aveneue, Oakland, California, U.S.A.^G.¹

     John Cross married Diana Valerie Frances Cavendish, daughter of Lt.-Cdr. Alexander Arbuthnott Cavendish and Katherine Virginia Mary Hooper.¹

     Jean May Cavendish was born on 19 May 1918.¹ She was the daughter of Alexander Cavendish and Jean Arbuthnott.¹ She died on 7 April 1996 at age 77.^1,2
     She fought in the Second World War, in the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry.¹

     Hon. David Arbuthnott was born on 13 April 1820.¹ He was the son of John Arbuthnott, 8th Viscount of Arbuthnott and Margaret Ogilvy.¹ He married Elizabeth Reynolds, daughter of Dr. Thomas Forbes Reynolds and Frances Sophia Daniell, on 8 September 1847 at Bellary, India.^1,2 He died on 27 July 1901 at age 81.¹
     He was in the Madras Civil Service.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.)¹

     Elizabeth Reynolds was born in 1824 at Wallington, Surrey, England.² She was the daughter of Dr. Thomas Forbes Reynolds and Frances Sophia Daniell.^1,2 She married Hon. David Arbuthnott, son of John Arbuthnott, 8th Viscount of Arbuthnott and Margaret Ogilvy, on 8 September 1847 at Bellary, India.^1,2 She died on 16 June 1913.¹
     From 8 September 1847, her married name became Arbuthnott.¹
