     George Sykes was the son of William Syke.¹ He died after 1546.¹

     Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. was baptised on 2 July 1662.² He was the son of Sir Robert Pringle of Stichill, 1st Bt. and Margaret Hope.² A contract for the marriage of Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. and Magdalen Eliott was signed on 19 July 1688.¹ He died in April 1721 at age 58.¹
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Pringle, of Stichill [N.S., 1683].¹

     Sir Gilbert Eliott of Stobs, 1st Bt. was the son of William Eliott and Elizabeth Douglas.² He married, firstly, Isabella Cranstoun, daughter of James Cranstoun, Master of Cranstoun and Elizabeth Stewart, circa 1649.² He married by contract, secondly, Magdalen Nicholson, daughter of Sir John Nicholson of Lasswade, on 19 April 1661.² He died in September 1677.²
     He was appointed Knight in 1651.² He was created 1st Baronet Eliott, of Stobs [Nova Scotia] on 3 December 1666.²

     Magdalen Eliott was the daughter of Sir Gilbert Eliott of Stobs, 1st Bt. and Magdalen Nicholson.² A contract for the marriage of Magdalen Eliott and Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. was signed on 19 July 1688.¹ She died in December 1739.²
     From 19 July 1688, her married name became Pringle.¹

     Sir Robert Pringle of Stichill, 3rd Bt. was baptised on 6 October 1690.² He was the son of Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. and Magdalen Eliott.² He married Katherine Pringle, daughter of James Pringle of Torwoodlee, in 1723.¹ He died on 14 December 1779 at age 89.¹
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Pringle, of Stichill [N.S., 1683] in April 1721.¹

     Gilbert Pringle was the son of Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. and Magdalen Eliott.² He married Margaret Pringle, daughter of John Pringle of that Ilk.¹ He died, without issue.¹
     He gained the rank of Officer in the Dragoons.¹

     Margaret Pringle is the daughter of John Pringle of that Ilk.² She married Gilbert Pringle, son of Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. and Magdalen Eliott.¹

     Walter Pringle was the son of Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. and Magdalen Eliott.² He died, unmarried.¹
     He was a practising Advocate.² He lived at Torsonce, Scotland^G.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Roxburghshire.¹

     Sir John Pringle, 1st and last Bt. was born on 10 April 1707.¹ He was the son of Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. and Magdalen Eliott.³ He married Charlotte Oliver, daughter of Dr. unknown Oliver, on 14 April 1752.¹ He died on 18 January 1782 at age 74, without issue.¹
     He graduated from Leyden University, Leyden, The Netherlands^G, in 1730 with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)¹ He held the office of Professor of Moral Philosophy of the University of Edinburgh between 1733 and 1744.³ He was Physician to Forces in Flanders in 1744.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Pringle [Great Britain] on 5 June 1766.¹ He held the office of President of the Royal Society between 1772 and 1778.¹ He was Physician to King George III in 1774.³ On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.¹

     Dr. unknown Oliver lived at Bath, Somerset, England^G.² He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)¹
