He gained the rank of Captain in the 4th Dragoon Guards.1 He held the office of Sheriff of County Tipperary in 1820.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Carden, of Templemore, co. Tipperary [I., 1787] on 21 November 1820.1
