     Sir John Wentworth, 1st Bt. was born in 1673. He married Lady Elizabeth Cavendish, daughter of William Cavendish, 1st Duke of Devonshire and Lady Mary Butler.1 He married Hon. Mary Lowther, daughter of John Lowther, 1st Viscount Lonsdale and Katherine Thynne, in 1692.2 He died in 1720.
     He was created 1st Baronet Wentworth, of North Elmsal, co. York [England] on 28 July 1692.2

     He held the office of Dean of Rochester.4
