     Lieutenant Thomas Beattie Grierson was born on 11 October 1826 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.² He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Grierson and Jane Beattie.¹ He died on 4 September 1857 at age 30 at Umbala, India^G, from a fever.^1,2
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 8th The King’s Regiment.² He fought in the Indian Mutiny.²

     Mary Margaret Grierson was baptised on 24 April 1789 at Mouswald, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.² She was the daughter of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 5th Bt. and Margaret Dalzell.¹ She married Major Hamilton Maxwell, son of Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 4th Bt. and Katharine Blair.¹ She died on 3 December 1871 at age 82 at Huntly Lodge^G.²
     Her married name became Maxwell.¹

     Major Hamilton Maxwell was born in 1790.² He was the son of Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 4th Bt. and Katharine Blair.^1,3 He married Mary Margaret Grierson, daughter of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 5th Bt. and Margaret Dalzell.¹ He died on 17 June 1829.³ He was also reported to have died on 14 December 1854 at Friar’s Carse^G.²
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 42nd Highlanders.³ He gained the rank of Major in the 43rd Bengal Infantry.¹

     Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 4th Bt. was the son of Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 3rd Bt. and Magdalen Blair.² He married Katharine Blair, daughter of David Blair, in 1776.² He died on 17 February 1812.²
     He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Maxwell, of Monreith, co. Wigtown [N.S., 1681] on 22 August 1771.²

     James Crichton of Friarscarse married Elizabeth Douglas Grierson, daughter of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 5th Bt. and Margaret Dalzell, on 14 November 1810.^1,2 He died on 3 May 1823.²
     He was also known as James Creighton.²

     Gilbert William Frederick Grierson was born on 29 July 1861 at Bitteswell, Hampshire, England^G.^1,2 He was the son of Commander William Charles Grierson and Emma Sophia Comerford.¹ He married Margaret Rose Wylie, daughter of John Eaton McLeod Wylie and Rose Stacey, on 2 March 1889 at St. Mary’s Church, Balham, Surrey, England^G.^1,3 He died on 15 February 1906 at age 44 at Weybridge, Surrey, England.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Scottish Borderers Militia.¹

     Margaret Rose Wylie was born on 31 December 1863 at Clapham, Surrey, England^G.² She was the daughter of John Eaton McLeod Wylie and Rose Stacey.^1,2 She married, firstly, Gilbert William Frederick Grierson, son of Commander William Charles Grierson and Emma Sophia Comerford, on 2 March 1889 at St. Mary’s Church, Balham, Surrey, England^G.^1,3 She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Ponsonby Glenn Huggins, son of Horatio James Huggins and Letitia Laborde, on 18 June 1912.¹ She died on 8 December 1944 at age 80 at Kensington, London, England.²
     From 2 March 1889, her married name became Grierson.¹ From 18 June 1912, her married name became Huggins.¹

     Ralph John Assheton, 2nd Baron Clitheroe was born on 3 November 1929.¹ He is the son of Ralph Assheton, 1st Baron Clitheroe and Hon. Sylvia Benita Frances Hotham.² He married Juliet Hanbury, daughter of Lt.-Col. Christopher Lionel Hanbury and Lettice Charrington, on 2 May 1961.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He did his National Service as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Life Guards between 1948 and 1949.¹ He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1956 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was deputy chief executive of RTZ.¹ He was chairman of RTZ Chemicals between 1973 and 1987.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Clitheroe, of Downham, co. Lancaster [U.K., 1955] in 1984.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Assheton, of Downham, co. Lancaster [U.K., 1945] in 1984.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lancashire in 1986.¹ He became a Liveryman in 1990, Skinners’ Company.¹ He was chairman of Yorkshire Bank plc between 1990 and 1999.¹ He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire between 1995 and 1999.¹ He lived in 2003 at Downham Hall, Clitheroe, Lancashire, England^G.¹

     Lt.-Col. Christopher Lionel Hanbury is the son of Colonel Lionel Henry Hanbury.² He married Lettice Charrington.³

     Juliet Hanbury is the daughter of Lt.-Col. Christopher Lionel Hanbury and Lettice Charrington.^2,3 She married Ralph John Assheton, 2nd Baron Clitheroe, son of Ralph Assheton, 1st Baron Clitheroe and Hon. Sylvia Benita Frances Hotham, on 2 May 1961.¹
     From 2 May 1961, her married name became Assheton.¹
