He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Lowther, of Lowther, co. Westmorland [N.S., 1638] on 10 July 1700.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Lonsdale, co. Westmorland [E., 1696] on 10 July 1700.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Lowther of Lowther, co. Westmorland [E., 1696] on 10 July 1700.1

Henry Lowther, 3rd Viscount Lonsdale1 
He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Lowther, of Lowther, co. Westmorland [N.S., 1638] on 1 December 1713.1 He gained the title of 3rd Viscount Lonsdale, co. Westmorland [E., 1696] on 1 December 1713.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Lowther of Lowther, co. Westmorland [E., 1696] on 1 December 1713.1 In 1715 he mustered 10,000 troops to counter the Jacobites.1 He held the office of Lord of the Bedchamber between 1717 and 1727.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1726.1 He held the office of Constable of the Tower of London between 1726 and 1731.1 He held the office of Lord Privy Seal between 1733 and 1735.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Cumberland and Westmorland between March 1738 and 1750/51.1
On his death, the Viscounty of Lonsdale became extinct, but the Baronetcy and estates devolved on his heir male, Sir James Lowther, afterwards Earl of Lonsdale.1
