Spencer Compton, 2nd Earl of Northampton

Spencer Compton, 2nd Earl of Northampton was born in May 1601.2 He was the son of William Compton, 1st Earl of Northampton and Elizabeth Spencer.2 He married Mary Beaumont, daughter of Sir Francis Beaumont, in 1621.2 He died on 10 March 1642/43 at age 41 at Hopton Heath, Hopton, Staffordshire, EnglandG, killed in action.2
He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1616.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ludlow from 1621 to 1622.2 He held the office of Master of the Robes to King Charles I between 1625 and 1630.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Compton [E., 1572] in 1626, in his father’s lifetime.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire in 1630.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire in 1630.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Northampton [E., 1618] on 24 June 1630.3 He was Colonel-General of the royalist forces of Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.2 He fought in the Battle of Edgehill in 1642.2 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4

James Compton, 3rd Earl of Northampton1 
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Warwickshire between 1640 and 1643.2 He was educated at Queen’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Northampton [E., 1618] on 10 March 1642/43.2 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Compton [E., 1572] on 10 March 1642/43.2 In 1659 he was imprisoned in the Tower of London after a premature Royalist Uprising.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1673.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in March 1672/73.2 He held the office of Constable of the Tower of London between 1675 and 1679.2 He held the office of a Lord of Trade in 1677.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire from 1680 to 1681.2

Lady Isabella Sackville1

Lady Isabella Sackville was born in 1622.2 She was the daughter of Richard Sackville, 3rd Earl of Dorset and Anne Clifford, Baroness Clifford.1 She married James Compton, 3rd Earl of Northampton, son of Spencer Compton, 2nd Earl of Northampton and Mary Beaumont, on 5 July 1647.3 She died on 22 August 1719.4
From 5 July 1647, her married name became Compton. After her marriage, Lady Isabella Sackville was styled as Countess of Northampton on 5 July 1647.
