He was styled as Lord of Aberdour between 1827 and 1858. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 11th Hussars.1 He succeeded as the 18th Earl of Morton [S., 1458] on 31 March 1858.1 He was appointed Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1859 and 1884.1

Sir John Walrond Walrond, 1st Bt.1 
Sir John Walrond Walrond, 1st Bt. was born on 1 March 1818 at Tiverton, Devon, England.3,2 He was the son of Benjamin Bowes Walrond and Frances Walrond.3 He married Hon. Frances Caroline Hood, daughter of Samuel Hood, 2nd Baron Bridport and Charlotte Mary Nelson, Duchesa di Bronté, on 20 May 1845 at St. George’s, Hanover Square, London, England.4 He died on 23 April 1889 at age 71 at Cannes, France.4,2 He was buried at Bradfield, Cullompton, Devon, England.2
He was given the name of John Walrond Dickinson at birth.5 On 22 April 1845 his name was legally changed to John Walrond Walrond.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Tiverton between 1865 and 1868.3 He held the office of High Sheriff of Devon in 1874.3 He was created 1st Baronet Walrond, of Bradfield, Devon [U.K.] on 24 February 1876.1,3
