Anna Maria Dashwood was born circa 1790. She was the daughter of Sir Henry Watkin Dashwood, 3rd Bt. and Mary Helen Graham.3 She married John Loftus, 2nd Marquess of Ely, son of Charles Loftus, 1st Marquess of Ely and Jane Myhill, in 1810.1 She died on 6 September 1857.1
After her marriage, Anna Maria Dashwood was styled as Marchioness of Ely in 1810. From 1810, her married name became Loftus.

He was with the Bengal Civil Service between 1853 and 1878.2 He was chairman of Magistrates [Calcutta] in 1866.2 He was Commissioner of Police [Calcutta].2 He partipicated in an ordinance between 1874 and 1878; Member of the Legislative Council [Bengal].2 He was appointed Knight.2
