Her married name became Petty-FitzMaurice. After her marriage, Hon. Emily Jane Mercer-Elphinstone-de Flahault, Lady Nairne was styled as Marchioness of Lansdowne on 31 January 1863. She succeeded as the 8th Lady Nairne [S., 1681] on 4 August 1874, suo jure.1 On 4 August 1874 she was recognised as Baroness Nairne by the House of Lords.2

Dumbarton [U.K., 1803] on 10 March 1823.1 She succeeded as the 7th Lady Nairne [S., 1681] on 7 December 1837, de jure.3 On her death, the baronies of Keith became extinct. Apparently the special remainder to her only extended to her male issue.1
