Rev. Sir Richard Rycroft, 1st Bt.1

     Rev. Sir Richard Rycroft, 1st Bt. is the son of John Nelson.2 He married Penelope Stonehewer, daughter of Reverend Richard Stonehewer, on 13 February 1759.2 He died on 5 July 1786.2
     He was given the name of Richard Nelson at birth.2 He was Rector at Penshurst, Kent, England.2 On 28 December 1758 his name was legally changed to Richard Rycroft by Royal Licence.2 He was created 1st Baronet Rycroft, of Calton, co. York [Great Britain] on 22 January 1784.2
