Robert Seton, 1st Earl of Winton1 
Robert Seton, 1st Earl of Winton was born in 1552.2 He was the son of George Seton, 5th Lord Seton and Isabel Hamilton.3,4 He married Lady Margaret Montgomerie, daughter of Hugh Montgomerie, 3rd Earl of Eglinton and Agnes Drummond, on 10 April 1582.4 He died on 22 March 1603.3 He was buried on 5 April 1603.
He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] circa March 1584/85.3 He succeeded as the 6th Lord Seton [S., 1451] on 8 January 1585/86.4 He was created 1st Earl of Winton [Scotland] on 16 November 1600.1

Hugh Montgomerie, 3rd Earl of Eglinton1 
He succeeded as the 4th Lord Montgomerie [S., 1445] on 3 September 1546.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Eglinton [S., 1507] on 3 September 1546.2 He fought in the Battle of Langside in 1568, for Mary Queen of Scots.2 In 1582 he was invloved in the ‘Raid of Ruthven.2‘

Robert Seton, 2nd Earl of Winton1 
He went mad on his wedding night, emptying a chamberpot down his wife’s cleavage. He was kept shut away at Seton Hall until his death.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Winton [S., 1600] on 22 March 1603.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Seton [S., 1451] on 22 March 1603.1 On 26 June 1606 he resigned his earldom in favour of his younger brother, George.1

He succeeded as the 8th Lord Seton [S., 1451] on 26 June 1606.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Winton [S., 1600] on 26 June 1606.1 He held the office of Burgess of Glasgow in 1618.1 He held the office of Justice-General of St. Andrews.1 He was Temporary President of the Council between December 1625 and March 1626.1 He held the office of Member of the Council of War in February 1628.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland]1
