He was educated in 1659 at University of Glasgow, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Dalzell [S., 1628] in June 1674.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Carnwath [S., 1639] in June 1674.1 In January 1682 he sold the estate of Carnwath to Sir George Lockhart.1

He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Perceval [I., 1661] on 9 November 1691.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for County Cork between 1703 and 1715.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1704.1 He was created 1st Baron Perceval of Burton, co. Cork [Ireland] on 21 April 1715, with a special remainder to his father’s heirs male.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Harwich between 1722 and 1734.1 He was created 1st Viscount Perceval of Kanturk, co. Cork [Ireland] on 25 February 1722/23.1 He held the office of President of Georgia in 1732.1 He was created 1st Earl of Egmont, co. Cork [Ireland] on 6 November 1733.1

Catherine Parker was born in 1689.2 She was the daughter of Sir Philip Parker, 2nd Bt. and Mary Fortrey.1,3 She married John Perceval, 1st Earl of Egmont, son of Sir John Perceval, 3rd Bt. and Catherine Dering, on 10 June 1710.1 She died on 22 August 1749.1
From 10 June 1710, her married name became Perceval. After her marriage, Catherine Parker was styled as Baroness Perceval of Burton on 21 April 1715. After her marriage, Catherine Parker was styled as Viscountess Perceval of Kanturk on 25 February 1722/23. After her marriage, Catherine Parker was styled as Countess of Egmont on 6 November 1733.
