James Somerville, 12th Lord Somerville1 
He succeeded as the 12th Lord Somerville [S., 1444] in 1700.1 On 27 May 1723 his title was confirmed by Parliament.3 In 1742 he inherited the estates of his kinsman, William Somerville, the celebrated poet.3 He was appointed Representative Peer [Scotland] in 1743.3
