Admiral Francis Arden Close was born in 1829.1 He was the son of Reverend Francis Close and Ann Diana Arden.1 He married Mary Henrietta Hebden, daughter of George Hebden, in 1851 at Christ Church, Tynemouth, Northumberland, England.1 He married Fanny Paulina Kraeutler, daughter of William Kraeutler, on 16 April 1863 at St. James, Westminster, London, England.1 He died in 1918 at Bristol, England.1
He was commissioned in 1842 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1850.1
