     Henry Vane, 2nd Earl of Darlington was born in 1726.¹ He was the son of Henry Vane, 1st Earl of Darlington and Lady Grace Fitzroy.¹ He married Margaret Lowther, daughter of Robert Lowther and Catherine Pennington, on 19 March 1757 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.¹ He died on 8 September 1792 at Raby Castle, Durham, County Durham, England^G.¹ He was buried at Raby Castle, Durham, County Durham, England^G.¹
     He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 28 May 1744.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in 1747 in the 1st Foot Guards.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Downton between 1749 and 1753.¹ He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 3 July 1749 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1750 in the Coldstream Guards.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for County Durham between 1753 and 1758.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham between 1758 and 1792.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Darlington, co. Durham [G.B., 1754] on 6 March 1758.¹ He succeeded as the 4th Baron Barnard of Barnard’s Castle, in the Bishopric of Durham [E., 1698] on 6 March 1758.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Barnard of Barnard’s Castle [G.B., 1754] on 6 March 1758.¹ He held the office of Master of the Jewel Office between 1763 and 1782.¹ He held the office of Governor of Carlisle between 1763 and 1792.¹ He was Colonel in 1779.¹

     Admiral Harry Powlett, 6th Duke of Bolton was born on 6 November 1720.³ He was the son of Harry Powlett, 4th Duke of Bolton and Catherine Parry.³ He married, firstly, Mary Nunn on 7 May 1752 at St. George’s Chapel, Mayfair, London, England^G.⁴ He married, secondly, Katherine Lowther, daughter of Robert Lowther and Catherine Pennington, on 8 April 1765 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.⁴ He died on 25 December 1794 at age 74 at Hackwood, Hampshire, England^G, without male issue.⁴ He was buried on 2 January 1795 at Basing^G.⁴ His will (dated 7 December 1793) was proven (by probate) on 8 January 1795.⁴
     He was educated from 1728 to 1729 at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England^G.³ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1739 in the Royal Navy.³ He gained the rank of Captain in 1743.³ He fought in the Siege of Carthagena in 1743.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Christchurch between 1751 and 1754.⁴ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Lymington between 1755 and 1761.⁴ He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1756.³ He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral in 1759.⁴ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Winchester between 1761 and 1765.⁴ He succeeded as the 6th Duke of Bolton [E., 1689] on 5 July 1765.³ He succeeded as the 11th Marquess of Winchester [E., 1551] on 5 July 1765.⁵ He succeeded as the 11th Baron St. John [E., 1539] on 5 July 1765.⁵ He succeeded as the 11th Earl of Wiltshire [E., 1550] on 5 July 1765.⁵ He held the office of Governor of the Isle of Wight between 1766 and 1770.⁴ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 10 December 1766.⁴ He held the office of Vice-Admiral of Hampshire and Dorset in 1767.⁴ He gained the rank of Admiral of the Blue in 1770.⁴ He gained the rank of Admiral of the White in 1775.⁴ He held the office of Governor of the Isle of Wight between 1782 and 1791.⁴ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire between 1782 and 1794.⁴
     H. Walpole wrote that he was “a silly, brutal, proud man, yet whose valour was … problematical.”⁶
     On his death, the Dukdom of Bolton became extinct.⁴

     Alexander Leslie-Melville, 9th Earl of Leven was born on 7 November 1749.¹ He was the son of David Leslie, 8th Earl of Leven and Wilhelmina Nisbet.¹ He married Jane Thornton, daughter of John Thornton and Lucy Watson, on 12 August 1784.¹ He died on 22 February 1820 at age 70.¹
     He was given the name of Alexander Leslie at birth.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Lord Raith, Monymaill and Balwearie [S., 1690] on 9 June 1802.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Viscount of Kirkcaldy [S., 1690] on 9 June 1802.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Melville [S., 1690] on 9 June 1802.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Leven [S., 1641] on 9 June 1802.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Lord Melville of Monymaill [S., 1616] on 9 June 1802.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Lord Balgonie [S., 1641] on 9 June 1802.¹ In 1805 his name was legally changed to Alexander Leslie-Melville.¹ He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] from 1806 to 1807.¹

     Kirsty Alice Summerhayes was born on 1 November 1979.¹ She is the daughter of Peter James Summerhayes and Alice Mary Young.¹

     Dr. Christina Jess Young was born on 16 June 1954.¹ She is the daughter of Colonel Laurence MacLellan Young and Mary Arbuthnott.¹ She married David Peter Turner in 1978.¹
     She graduated from Imperial College, London, England^G, with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)¹ From 1978, her married name became Turner.¹

     William Busfeild lived at Leeds, Yorkshire, West Riding, England^G.¹ He was also known as William Busfield.²

     David Peter Turner married Dr. Christina Jess Young, daughter of Colonel Laurence MacLellan Young and Mary Arbuthnott, in 1978.¹
