(Conservative) for Bury St. Edmunds between 1826 and 1859.1 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.) on 7 December 1830.1 He held the office of Treasurer of the Household between 1841 and 1846.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 6 October 1841.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Marquess of Bristol [U.K., 1826] on 15 February 1859.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baron Hervey of Ickworth, Suffolk [E., 1703] on 15 February 1859.1 He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Bristol [G.B., 1714] on 15 February 1859.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl Jermyn of Horningsheath, Suffolk [U.K., 1826] on 15 February 1859.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the West Suffolk Militia.3 He graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, on 9 June 1862 with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)1
