Frederick William Hervey, 1st Marquess of Bristol1 
He gained the rank of Ensign in 1778 in the 1st Foot Guards.2 He graduated from St. John’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1788 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He retired from the military in 1792.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Bury St. Edmunds between 1796 and 1803.2 He held the office of Under-Secretary of State, Foreign between 1801 and 1803.2 He succeeded as the 6th Baron Hervey of Ickworth, Suffolk [E., 1703] on 8 July 1803.4 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Bristol [G.B., 1714] on 8 July 1803.4 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.)2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) on 23 May 1805.2 He graduated on 1 July 1811 with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)3 He was created 1st Earl Jermyn of Horningsheath, Suffolk [U.K.] on 30 June 1826.3 He was created 1st Marquess of Bristol [U.K.] on 30 June 1826.1
