     Janet Anstruther was born on 25 May 1764 at Balcaskie House, Cambee, Fife, Scotland.2 She was the daughter of Sir Robert Anstruther of Balcaskie, 3rd Bt. and Lady Janet Erskine.1 She married Sir Thomas Andrew Lumisden Strange, son of Sir Robert Strange of Balcaskie and Isabella Lumisden, on 29 September 1797 at St. Mary, St. Marylebone Road, London, England.1,2 She died in 1798, without surviving issue, in childbirth while travelling to India.3
     From 29 September 1797, her married name became Strange.1

     Sir Thomas Andrew Lumisden Strange was born in 1757.2 He was the son of Sir Robert Strange of Balcaskie and Isabella Lumisden.2 He married, firstly, Janet Anstruther, daughter of Sir Robert Anstruther of Balcaskie, 3rd Bt. and Lady Janet Erskine, on 29 September 1797 at St. Mary, St. Marylebone Road, London, England.1,3 He married, secondly, Louisa Burroughs, daughter of Sir William Burroughs, 1st and last Bt. and Letitia Newburgh, on 11 October 1806 at Fort St. George, India.3 He died on 16 July 1841.1
     He held the office of Chief Justice of Madras.1
