     John Stewart, 6th Earl of Traquair was born on 3 February 1698/99.1 He was the son of Charles Stewart, 4th Earl of Traquair and Mary Maxwell.1 He married Christian Anstruther, daughter of Sir Philip Anstruther and Elizabeth Hamilton, in 1740.2 He died on 28 March 1779 at age 80 at Paris, FranceG.1
     He was educated at Paris, France.1 He was co-founder of the Scottish Jacobite Association, but did not participate in the 1745 Uprising in 1739.1 He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Traquair [S., 1633] on 24 April 1764.1 He succeeded as the 6th Lord Linton and Caberston [S., 1633] on 24 April 1764.1

Christian Anstruther1

     Christian Anstruther was the daughter of Sir Philip Anstruther and Elizabeth Hamilton.1 She married, firstly, Sir William Weir, 2nd Bt., son of Sir George Weir, 1st Bt. and Catherine Jardine.1 She married, secondly, John Stewart, 6th Earl of Traquair, son of Charles Stewart, 4th Earl of Traquair and Mary Maxwell, in 1740.1 She died on 12 November 1771.
     Her married name became Weir.1 From 1740, her married name became Stewart.1 After her marriage, Christian Anstruther was styled as Countess of Traquair on 24 April 1764.

     Sir William Weir, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir George Weir, 1st Bt. and Catherine Jardine. He married Christian Anstruther, daughter of Sir Philip Anstruther and Elizabeth Hamilton.1 He died before 1740.
     He gained the title of 2nd Baronet Weir, of Blackwood, Lanarkshire [N.S., 1694].1

     Charles Stewart, 7th Earl of Traquair was born in 1744.1 He was the son of John Stewart, 6th Earl of Traquair and Christian Anstruther.1 He married Mary Ravenscroft, daughter of George Ravenscroft and Mary Slater, on 19 August 1773, by special licence.1 He died on 14 October 1827 at Traquair House, Innerleithen, Peebles-shire, Scotland.1
     He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Traquair [S., 1633] on 28 March 1779.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Linton and Caberston [S., 1633] on 28 March 1779.1

     Mary Ravenscroft was the daughter of George Ravenscroft and Mary Slater.1,2 She married Charles Stewart, 7th Earl of Traquair, son of John Stewart, 6th Earl of Traquair and Christian Anstruther, on 19 August 1773, by special licence.1 She died on 11 July 1796 at Madrid, SpainG.
     Her married name became Stewart. After her marriage, Mary Ravenscroft was styled as Countess of Traquair on 28 March 1779.
