He was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of bengal between 1925 and 1928.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1939 in the Scots Guards.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1944.2 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.2 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.2 He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Blois, of Grundisburgh and Cockfield Hall, co. Suffolk [E., 1686] on 18 March 1950.2

He fought in the Nile Expedition between 1884 and 1885, where he won a medal with clasp, and bronze star.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Reserve of Officers, Royal Welsh Fusiliers.1 He gained the rank of brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in the Reserve of Officers, Royal Welsh Fusiliers.1 He fought in the Boer War in 1896.1 He fought in the Boer War in 1900, where he won a medal with five clasps.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 10th (Service) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers.1 In 1914 he raised and commanded the 10th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches six times, and wounded twice.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the 184th Infantry Brigade, British Expeditionary Force.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1916.1 He gained the rank of honorary Brigadier-General in 1918.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1919.1
