     Lady Mary Frances Bowes-Lyon was born on 30 August 1883.¹ She was the daughter of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.² She married Sidney Herbert Elphinstone, 16th Lord Elphinstone, son of William Buller Fullerton-Elphinstone, 15th Lord Elphinstone and Lady Constance Euphemia Woronzow Murray, on 14 July 1910.² She died on 8 February 1961 at age 77.²
     From 14 July 1910, her married name became Elphinstone. She was appointed Dame Commander, Royal Victorian Order (D.C.V.O.) in 1939.²

     Patrick Bowes-Lyon, 15th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne was born on 22 September 1884.¹ He was the son of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.¹ He married Lady Dorothy Beatrix Godolphin Osborne, daughter of George Godolphin Osborne, 10th Duke of Leeds and Lady Katherine Frances Lambton, on 21 November 1908.¹ He died on 25 May 1949 at age 64.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Scots Guards.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the 5th Battalion, Black Watch.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Durham.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Angus.¹ He succeeded as the 15th Lord Lyon and Glamis [S., 1606] on 7 November 1944.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne [U.K., 1937] on 7 November 1944.¹ He succeeded as the 15th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne [S., 1677] on 7 November 1944.¹ He succeeded as the 22nd Lord Glamis [S., 1445] on 7 November 1944.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Bowes of Streatlam Castle, co.      Hon. John Herbert Bowes-Lyon was born on 1 April 1886.² He was the son of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.² He married Hon. Fenella Hepburn-Stuart-Forbes-Trefusis, daughter of Charles John Robert Hepburn-Stuart-Forbes-Trefusis, 21st Lord Clinton and Lady Jane Grey McDonnell, on 29 September 1914.³ He died on 7 February 1930 at age 43.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.² He was educated at New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.² He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 5th Battalion, Black Watch.² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Forfarshire.²

     Hon. Alexander Francis Bowes-Lyon was born on 14 April 1887.¹ He was the son of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.² He died on 19 October 1911 at age 24, unmarried.¹

     Captain Hon. Fergus Bowes-Lyon was born on 18 April 1889.² He was the son of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.² He married Lady Christian Norah Dawson-Damer, daughter of Lionel George Henry Seymour Dawson-Damer, 5th Earl of Portarlington and Emma Andalusia Frere Kennedy, on 17 September 1914.² He died on 26 September 1915 at age 26, killed in action.²
     He fought in the First World War.² He gained the rank of Captain in the 8th Battalion, Black Watch.²

     Lady Rose Constance Bowes-Lyon was born on 6 May 1890.³ She was the daughter of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.^1,3 She married Vice-Admiral William Spencer Leveson-Gower, 4th Earl Granville, son of Granville George Leveson-Gower, 2nd Earl Granville and Castila Rosalind Campbell, on 24 May 1916 at St. James’s, Piccadilly, London, England^G.¹ She died on 17 November 1967 at age 77.¹
     From 24 May 1916, her married name became Leveson-Gower. After her marriage, Lady Rose Constance Bowes-Lyon was styled as Countess Granville on 21 July 1939. She was appointed Dame Commander, Royal Victorian Order (D.C.V.O.) in 1945.³ She was appointed Commander, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.)¹ She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Queen’s University, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland^G.¹ She was appointed Dame Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in 1953.¹

     Captain Hon. Michael Claude Hamilton Bowes-Lyon was born on 1 October 1893 at Glamis Castle, Angus, Scotland.² He was the son of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.³ He married Elizabeth Margaret Cator, daughter of John Cator and Maud Adeane, on 2 February 1928.¹ He died on 1 May 1953 at age 59.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Scots (Lothian) Regiment.^2,1 He fought in the First World War, where he became a POW in 1917.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Bedfordshire.¹ He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire between 1945 and 1953.¹

Sir David Bowes-Lyon was born on 2 May 1902.² He was the son of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.² He married Rachel Pauline Spender Clay, daughter of Lt.-Col. Rt. Hon. Herbert Henry Spender Clay and Hon. Pauline Astor, on 6 February 1929.² He died on 13 September 1961 at age 59 at Birkhall, Aberdeenshire, Scotland^G.²

     Claude Bowes-Lyon, 13th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne was born on 21 July 1824 at Redbourn, Hertfordshire, England^G.¹ He was the son of Thomas George Lyon-Bowes, Lord Glamis and Charlotte Grimstead.¹ He married Frances Dora Smith, daughter of Oswald Smith and Henrietta Mildred Hodgson, on 28 September 1853.¹ He died on 16 February 1904 at age 79 at Bordighera, Italy^G.¹ He was buried on 24 February 1904.

     Frances Dora Smith was born in 1833.² She was also reported to have been born on 29 July 1832. She was the daughter of Oswald Smith and Henrietta Mildred Hodgson.² She married Claude Bowes-Lyon, 13th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, son of Thomas George Lyon-Bowes, Lord Glamis and Charlotte Grimstead, on 28 September 1853.¹ She died on 5 February 1922 at 19 Hans Place, Chelsea, London, England^G.² She was buried on 10 February 1922.
     Her married name became Bowes-Lyon. After her marriage, Frances Dora Smith was styled as Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne on 13 September 1865.
