Patrick Bowes-Lyon, 15th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne was born on 22 September 1884.1 He was the son of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.1 He married Lady Dorothy Beatrix Godolphin Osborne, daughter of George Godolphin Osborne, 10th Duke of Leeds and Lady Katherine Frances Lambton, on 21 November 1908.1 He died on 25 May 1949 at age 64.1

Lady Rose Constance Bowes-Lyon was born on 6 May 1890.3 She was the daughter of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Nina Cecilie Cavendish-Bentinck.1,3 She married Vice-Admiral William Spencer Leveson-Gower, 4th Earl Granville, son of Granville George Leveson-Gower, 2nd Earl Granville and Castila Rosalind Campbell, on 24 May 1916 at St. James’s, Piccadilly, London, EnglandG.1 She died on 17 November 1967 at age 77.1
From 24 May 1916, her married name became Leveson-Gower. After her marriage, Lady Rose Constance Bowes-Lyon was styled as Countess Granville on 21 July 1939. She was appointed Dame Commander, Royal Victorian Order (D.C.V.O.) in 1945.3 She was appointed Commander, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.)1 She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Queen’s University, Belfast, County Antrim, IrelandG.1 She was appointed Dame Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in 1953.1
