William Lewis Nicholl Clayton and Maria Martha Pilkington.3 He was baptised on 5 September 1875 at Church of the Holy Trinity, Ryde, Isle of Wight, England.3 He married Enid Caroline Thorowgood, daughter of Frank Napier Thorowgood and Elizabeth Montgomery Hunter Blair, in 1912 at Kensington, London, England.3 He died in 1929.3
He was Director of Intelligence, Egypt between 1914 and 1917.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.)1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.)1
