Hugh Rupert Courtenay, 18th Earl of Devon1 
Hugh Rupert Courtenay, 18th Earl of Devon was born on 5 May 1942.1 He was the son of Charles Christopher Courtenay, 17th Earl of Devon and Sybil Venetia Taylor.1 He married Dianna Frances Watherston, daughter of Jack G. Watherston, on 9 September 1967.1 He died on 18 August 2015 at age 73.2
He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1972 in the Royal Devon Yeomanry.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Devon in 1991.1 He succeeded as the 18th Earl of Devon [E., 1553] on 19 November 1998.1 He succeeded as the 14th Baronet Courtenay [E., 1645] on 19 November 1998.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the Royal Devon Yeomanry.1 He was registered as a Associate, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (A.R.I.C.S.)1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Devon in 2002.1 He lived in 2003 at Powderham Castle, Powderham, Devon, EnglandG.1
