     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.² He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.² He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1927 entitled to practise as a barrister.² He was with the Diplomatic Service between 1928 and 1960.² He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1944.² He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1949.² He held the office of Ambassador to the U.S.A. between 1952 and 1956.² He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1953.² He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1955.² He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1960.² He was chairman of UKAEA between 1960 and 1964.² He was created 1st Baron Sherfield, of Sherfield-on-Loddon, co. Southampton [U.K., 1964] on 29 June 1964.² He edited the book Economic and Social Consequences of Nuclear Energy, published 1972.² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Hampshire in 1978.² He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1986.²

     Christopher James Makins, 2nd Baron Sherfield was born on 23 July 1942.¹ He was the son of Roger Mellor Makins, 1st Baron Sherfield and Alice Brooks Davis.¹ He married Wendy Catherine Whitney, daughter of John Sargent Whitney, on 26 July 1975.¹ He died on 26 January 2006 at age 63.²

Southampton [U.K., 1964] on 9 November 1996.¹ He was senior advisor, German Marshall Fund, USA between 1997 and 1999.¹ He was Preisdent and CEO of Atlantic Council USA in 1999.¹ He lived in 2003 at 3034 P St NW, Washington, D.C., U.S.A.¹

     Mathias Graf Khuen von Belasi was born on 26 August 1933 at Prague, Czech Republic^G.¹ He married Marie Charlotte Anna Franziska Katharina Viktoria Prinzessin zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg, daughter of Karl Erwin Leopold Gottfired Franziskus Maria Prinz zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg and Victoria Gräfin Czernin von und zu Chudenitz, on 3 September 1966 at Grundlsee, Austria^G.¹

     Lady Mary Constance Lumley was born on 20 April 1923.² She was the daughter of Lawrence Roger Lumley, 11th Earl of Scarbrough and Katherine Isobel McEwen.^2,1 She married Lt.-Col. Roger Fleetwood Hesketh, son of Major Charles Hesketh Fleetwood-Hesketh and Anne Dorothea Brocklebank, on 23 August 1952.¹ She died on 23 January 1998 at age 74.¹
     From 23 August 1952, her married name became Hesketh.¹ She was appointed Dame of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.St.J.)¹ She was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1974.¹

     Lady Elizabeth Lumley was born on 22 July 1925.² She was the daughter of Lawrence Roger Lumley, 11th Earl of Scarbrough and Katherine Isobel McEwen.^2,1 She married Christopher John Beckett, 4th Baron Grimthorpe, son of Ralph William Ernest Beckett, 3rd Baron Grimthorpe and Mary Alice Archdale, on 17 February 1954.¹ She died on 15 April 2020 at age 94.³
     From 17 February 1954, her married name became Beckett.¹ After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Lumley was styled as Baroness Grimthorpe on 22 February 1963. She held the office of Lady of the Bedchamber to HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother between 1973 and 2002.² She was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1983.² She was appointed Dame Commander, Royal Victorian Order (D.C.V.O.) in 1995.²

     Lady Anne Katharine Gabrielle Lumley was born on 16 November 1928.² She was the daughter of Lawrence Roger Lumley, 11th Earl of Scarbrough and Katherine Isobel McEwen.² She married Matthew White Ridley, 4th Viscount Ridley, son of Matthew White Ridley, 3rd Viscount Ridley and Ursula Lutyens, on 3 January 1953.¹ She was also reported to have died in 2006.³
     From 3 January 1953, her married name became Ridley. After her marriage, Lady Anne Katharine Gabrielle Lumley was styled as Viscountess Ridley on 25 February 1964.

     Lady Jane Lily Serena Lumley was born on 5 October 1935.² She was the daughter of Lawrence Roger Lumley, 11th Earl of Scarbrough and Katherine Isobel McEwen.^3,2 She married Hugh Wiley, son of William Howard Wiley, on 14 November 1963.² She died on 15 March 2016 at age 80 at Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia, U.S.A.⁴
     Lady Jane Lily Serena Lumley usually went by her middle name of Serena.² From 14 November 1963, her married name became Wiley.² She lived in 2003 at Oak Hill, Palmyra, Virginia, U.S.A.²

     Marion Ticknor Sage is the daughter of Louis Davidson Sage. She married John Archibald Sinclair, 3rd Viscount Thurso, son of Robin Macdonald Sinclair, 2nd Viscount Thurso and Margaret Beaumont Robertson, on 12 June 1976.¹
     From 12 June 1976, her married name became Sinclair. After her marriage, Marion Ticknor Sage was styled as Viscountess Thurso in June 1995.

     Hon. James Alexander Robin Sinclair of Ulbster, younger was born on 14 January 1984.¹ He is the son of John Archibald Sinclair, 3rd Viscount Thurso and Marion Ticknor Sage.²
