Susan Mary Jocelyn Semple was born on 15 November 1928 at Zanzibar, Tanzania.3 She was the daughter of Dr. John Mervyn Semple and Anne Gladys Steen.1 She married, firstly, Michael Raleigh Gibbs before 1952.1 She married, secondly, James Angus Graham, 7th Duke of Montrose, son of James Graham, 6th Duke of Montrose and Lady Mary Louise Douglas-Hamilton, on 17 April 1952.1 She died on 13 March 2014 at age 85.3
From before 1952, her married name became Gibbs. From 17 April 1952, her married name became Graham. After her marriage, Susan Mary Jocelyn Semple was styled as Duchess of Montrose on 20 January 1954. She lived in 2003 at Nether Tillyrie, Milnathort, Kinross-shire, Scotland.1
