     John Macdonell of Sandaig and 1st of Lochgarry is the son of Reginald Macdonell, 2nd of Scotus and 10th of Glengarry and Flora Macleod.2 He married Janet Macdonald, daughter of Hugh Macdonald of Glenmore and Anne Robertson.1 He died in 1725.1
     He was ancestor of the Macdonells of Lochgarry.3
