     Lt.-Gen. Alexander Macdonell, 4th of Lochgarry was born in 1740 at Scotland.1 He was the son of Donald Macdonell, 2nd of Lochgarry and Isobel Gordon of Glenlivet.1 He married Donna Maria Jorge da Costa.1 He died in 1812.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the Portuguese Army.1
