He fought in the Peninsular War.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 94th Regiment of Foot.2 He lived at Dinghill, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1
John Macdonell, 12th of Glengarry1 
He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Macdonell [Scotland, 1716] on 28 October 1721, Jacobite.2 In 1745 he was committed to the Tower after the 1745 Uprising, in which many of the Macdonells of Glengarry joined Bonnie Price Charlie.2 In 1746 ‘Master of Macdonell,’ according to FM Wade’s Report , Glengarry could put 500 clansmen in the field.2
