     Hugh Fraser, 1st Lord (Fraser of) Lovat was the son of Hugh Fraser, 8th of Lovat and Janet Dunbar.1 He married Violet Lyon, daughter of John Lyon, 3rd Lord Glamis and Elizabeth Scrymgeour, before 1464.2 He died from 1 November 1499 to 30 April 1501.1
     He was created 1st Lord Lovat [Scotland] between 1457 and 1464.1 In 1464 he came to an arrangement with his distant cousin Alexander Fraser of Philorth that each was to be heir male to the other in the event of either failing to beget heirs male of his body.1
