Field Marshal James Francis Edward Keith was born on 4 June 1696.1 He was the son of William Keith, 8th Earl Marischal and Lady Mary Drummond.1 He died on 14 October 1758 at age 62 at HochkirckG, killed in action.1
He fought in the Jacobite Rising in 1715. In 1716 he was attainted for participating in the 1715 Uprising.1 He gained the rank of Colonel between 1719 and 1728 in the Spanish Army.1 He gained the rank of General between 1728 and 1747 in the Russian Army.1 He was awarded the Order of Black Eagle of Prussia.1 He was awarded the Order of St. Andrew of Russia.1 He gained the rank of Field Marshal in 1747 in the Prussian Army, under Frederick II.1 He fought in the Battle of Hochkirch on 14 October 1758.1
