Sir Francis Grant of Monymusk, 1st Bt.1

     Sir Francis Grant of Monymusk, 1st Bt. was born in 1658.2 He was the son of Archibald Grant of Ballentomb and Christian Nairne.2 He married, firstly, Jean Meldrum, daughter of Reverend William Meldrum of Meldrum, on 15 March 1694.2 He married, secondly, Sarah Fordyce, daughter of Reverend Alexander Fordyce of Ayton, on 18 October 1708.2 He married, thirdly, Agnes Hay, daughter of Henry Hay, on 18 July 1718.2 He died circa 23 March 1726.2 He was buried on 26 March 1726.2
     He was a practising Advocate in 1691.2 He purchased Cullen, Buchan in 1698.2 He was created 1st Baronet Grant, of Monymusk and Cullen, Buchan [Nova Scotia] on 7 December 1705, with special remainder to heirs male whatsoever.2 He was styled as Lord Cullen [Scottish Law Lord] in 1709.2 He held the office of a Lord of Session in 1709.2 He purchased Monymusk in 1713 from Sir William Forbes of Monymusk, 4th Bt.2
